Goat Cities

Goat City— Pakistan has around 54 million goats and that population keeps increasing. According to some archaeological research — the Indus valley where Pakistan is located is a possible first site for the domestication of goats. The country also hosts a competition for “Best goats walk”, and are also judged on their ability to follow a herder. WOW!

Many people in the western world, have never interacted with goats in their lives. I just found these goats hanging around the middle of the city center in Karachi. It is common to find them anywhere in the cities.

Goats are also important for the Islamic holiday of Eid-ul-Zuha. The tradition involves slaughtering an animal and sharing the meat in three equal parts — for family, for relatives and friends, and for poor people. The goal is to make sure every Muslim gets to eat meat.
